Ietwat later.....
Liefde groete

Greetings form Ireland
I was in 2 minds sending this letter but decided I will…so
Weekend
16 May 2008
To all far and wide family and friends,
Last year on the 14 of May the first sod was turned in the renovation process of the cottage. One year later and we achieved according to Irish standards a miracle!
The building has been completed !!!Our long dreamed of kitchen-bright with sunshine and light from sun rise to sun set, equipped- not to the most modern but the most practical. The sun lounge the greatest joy ever, all furnished and a very pleasant room. The guess bedroom needs a carpet which will be fitted hopefully next week the study/office and emergency bedroom completed and all furniture will be moved into it to-morrow morning. The exterior paint has been picked up this afternoon and weather permitting the process of painting outside will commence soon!
Then on top of it all the bathroom has had its 2nd revamp as we did not like the tiles that we laid there first ..it is a transformed room now and a pleasure to the eye.
Most people take about 3 years to do all this but with the master of all workaholics we are nearly there !!!!!!
We just spent some quality time in the vegetable garden weeding!!! The spinach looks so good –the Irish does not really eat spinach and you cannot buy it in a shop therefore this is going to be like manna, The carrots are there and the peas are flourishing! Somewhere between the planting of the apple trees and the cat the beans are few and far between! The 32 strawberry plants are growing like mad and there might be a stage where we will be able to pick one strawberry from each plant every day for 2-3- weeks and that will be our desert!!!
Saturday
Just in from outside …yet another day somewhat cooler than the 16 days past and also cloudy…the strawberries are forming on last years plants and it all looks so promising…
The lady who used to play the organ in church is dying of cancer and it means that if she dies it will be the first person in our small group of acquaintances that will pass a way…Barry and I are both not good with funerals
Tomorrow , always the best day of the week we have the pastoral help giving the sermon …he is very good but has a bit of a speech impediment which makes it difficult for the older people to follow…I know all the hymns he chose and God willing we will lift the roof again in giving praise
Thank you for all the letters I have received… there are a few that seems to be quiet …hope you are all keeping well! Sue you are great in corresponding…thank you so much. Fumi …are you still out there..please let me know how you and the baby are doing!
I greet ye all

Groete van Ierland
Naweek
10 Mei 2008
Goeie dag almal,
Mag dit vir almal more ‘n baie geseende dag vol siele voedsel wees….!
Baie liefde groete vanuit ‘n baie aangenamer Ierland

Greeting from Sunny ireland
4 May 2008
Good afternoon to all far and wide, near and away,
As you can gather from the heading...THE SUN SHINES!!!
We just came in after spending the afternoon in glorious sunshine ..every now and then a cloud passes in front of the sun but in general we had a 98% sunshine day!
being Sunday and a long weekend ..it seems all over the world...we are enjoying the most wonderful fellowship -today with the Lord and with each other.! The Songs of Praise we sang this morning are still ringing in the skies...I had to take all my finger expertise out to play the tunes but it was magnificent..and the men sang too lovely..they sit behind the organ so I hear them better than the women on the other side ..we were just about 15 people but we lifted the roof all the same and the message was so very good and inspiring Gen 13...and the promises God made to Abraham...and in the end to us!!!
We were just thinking that the average age of the 20 people in church is between 70 and 85 and that the younger generation is totally missing! what a terrible situation...should these elderly people depart ..the church will close and I just pray & hope it does not happen in my life time ...
The foliage of most trees are out and we are surrounded by this wonderful kaleidoscope of greens. from very light nearly silver to dark green all new and fresh... it is so wonderful!!!the shrubs are also very colourful ..the avenue from work into town is worth a picture ..colours from light yellow to dark red and Fridaynight we had a perfect rainbow, stretching from side to side with all the colours brightly shining.
The peas, beans, spinach, onions, carrots are all above the ground and with the sunshine you can hear then grow!!!the apple and pear trees are in blossom and we hope that some fruit will come from it!
The situation at work is desperate but we make it work , I spend a day in the office doing accreditation work and the 13 hours flew but I will not be able to work during the day... it is too long and BArry was desperately lonely...when I work at night he goes to bed and I am here at about 9 - 9.15am and although I sleep ..at least I am here.
next week I am attending a course for 3 days and will be travelling to Athlone .a town 40 km away ..Finbarr used to live there when he first came to Ireland ..the drive is lovely and we like the town...so the hospital will not see me at all!
I sincerely hope that those who travel will reach their destinations safely and enjoy their holidays and those who are planning theirs that it will all go according to plan..those of you back from holiday ..glad you enjoyed it!!! It seems as if I do not have all the birthday dates and those of you who became older ..hope you will do it gracefully and the young ones must enjoy their youth!
The results from the scan was good and bad,,, there are 2 tares one in the crucial ligament and one in the meniscus.. not big and it does not warrant an operation ..degenerative changes due to arthritis in an advance stage...I have to watch my step and pray that I can endure the discomfort for many years to come ...something I have to live with....and if it become unbearable a knee replacement...but I am positive that I will get through it...without that!
The renovation inside the house is on time and the second room will be tiled by next week ..we will then officially make it the office/study/and emergency bedroom.. painted Magnolia and it looks good!!! this room has a built in cupboard therefore no carpentry necessary.
The room which used to be the lounge and will eventually be the guest bedroom only needs a carpet which will be laid when all is done.
Our bedroom is next and then we move outside again to paint the new extension during the warmer months!
I enjoyed the sophisticated articulated journalistic letter we received from cousin Leopold and info regarding " onse Jacop regop" Zuma's visit.. keep it up!!!! the argitechtural descriptions was lovely..thank you Leopold.
Gerhardus the video of the children can go on to be broadcasted..it is so lovely!
Hopefully the good weather continue for a few more days and I will spent every minute outside... so I wish you all well.
Take care
Regards Barry and Christina
