12 JUNE ‘10
Good day to all, family and friends,
I am using the office computer to write this letter as I am still without my own, soon to be corrected when our grandson and parents come to visit on Sunday! We cannot wait to experience the development and growth in this little boy! And then also to have a computer to our use!
Regarding the Soccer, I was unfortunately asleep while the opening took place but I believe it was well done and got a lot of praise!
Because of the Soccer there have been several programmes about South Africa and their inhabitants ,very positive and informative, good geographical coverage as well as history polital and otherwise! I sincerely hope that this Soccer world cup will have a definitive positive effect on the people of SA all colours and cultures, and that the damning negative result of apartheid will make place for a prosperous and peaceful life ahead!
We, here on the island of Ireland received damning reports from the committee re the financial mess we find ourselves in and there is no doubt that the government of yesterday and today has to take responsibility for the miss-management of affairs. That is not their feeling but…..it is hard to accept the truth! On top of that the opposition has turned on their leader and is at the point of ousting him in the midst of a 'no confidence'that has been issued against the prime minister and his chronies! a grand mess!
Weather wise, we had a few days light rain which was welcomed by all farmers! The heat from the sun makes those days bearable otherwise we will think winter has come back! The trees have extra foliage after the late start. The most wonderful tree canopies are every where to be driven through. All the farmers are cutting silage and work till late at night and sometimes through the night in order to get everything done before the weather turns!
Bird population is as follows, the ring pigeon is sitting on 2 eggs, and the swallows’ heads are hanging over the edge of the nest. The black bird is feeding her young and all the other birds that hatched in the electrical pole have fledged! The bird chorus is exceptionally beautiful and you can just sit and listen how the one compliments the other!
How is Kobus getting on? When is the granddaughter expected in England? How is the summer in Canada?
There are also some other recipients of my letters that surely have fallen off the earth, some live in Saudi Arabia, some in Florida Park, others somewhere in Sandton! Hi you all, it will be lovely to hear from you!
Some time later 14 June 10
I now have a new computer and will have to get use to this one as the keyboard differs slightly to the other computer which has now taken a trip to the forensic pathologist for computers whose hearts give notice without angina!
I have no addresses on this new site called "Thunderbird" as Windows 7 does not have a post box as such like Outlook.Therefor it will be forwarded via one of the other emails untill such time as all the addresses have been entered!
This computer is not the usual computer you buy on the shelf of Harvey Norman but a Grand child of the old IBM called Lenovo G550 Notebook
My chair is too low and I am hanging like a bat for dear life onto the keyboard! may the computer desk is too high!
To get back to the Soccer, my head and ears cannot take the unearthly noise made by those"brommer" hooters it is so irretating I cannot believe that Fifa has not put a stop to it yet!I have SA flags on my wing mirrors!!!! every-one is looking, great idea! Finbarr brought it yesterday!
I just returned from a spraying spree for a plague that hit my roses nearly overnight! Minute little caterpillars 1000's of them ate every leaf in sight! It happened so quick it is unbelievable! I did not have the right poison and only found what we needed in Athlone's B&Q with our visit there last week Thursday. At that stage only one rose was suffering but I was working and it was raining so to spray would have had no value, but by today there is hardly a leave left! devestating! I looked after them so well!
I had 100's of emails that still arrived at thisistoomuch@eircom.net during the last 4 weeks which could not access while in limbo and used the hotmail address in the mean time but all is now repaired and hope that nothing goes wrong with this computer for 10 years!
Glad to know that Kobus got through the big surgical invation well and are visiting and travelling around the country with no ill effects!
waiting in antisipation for new from Kathleen!
We had the wonderful privilegde of holding cuddling and talking to our grandson Lukas yesterday for at least 7 hours ,it was so wonderful!!
he is really growing well although still just a tiny little baby and ever so cute! he is the spitting image of Finbarr at that age! Do have Amanda's eyes!I will include a photo if I can offload!
Birthdays has been neglected from my side writing the last letters from work without my birthday book at hand!
Sonja Kruger's daughter Elaine had her birthday on the 12th ! Elaine I hope that you had a lovely day and hope that the studies will go well!
Anneke from Haya and Kobus has her birthday tomorrow 15th and Retha in Vryheid her birthday on 16th! happy birthday to you all!
Now just to make sure those who are not interested in the geese saga exit now!
Madam the hen who abandoned the eggs early in April has been diligently sitting now for 14 days and all well so far!
Ruthie sitting on the second batch have got 7 days to go and we sincerely hope that this will be a success! Prince Scruffie is now a gorgeous looking goose so proud and upright !Mary and Naomi are still laying eggs and should soon become broody! With only 3 geese grazing they could not keep the grass as short as during the earleir months and Barry had to cut the grass in the lower field in order to keep it from becoming a wilderness!
The wild honey suckle is in flower and so is the wild roses and it is a feast for the eyes!
I can hear the zooming noise in my ears and have to get away from it soon before I loose it!(Soccer)Thank you so much Kathleen for your lovely letter and Nine in Canada, it was so lovely to hear from you!
Mendel in Pmb and of course the faithful correspondence from Arnolda and Gerlof, Nine in Kokanje and Hessie that remembered us!
Be careful at all times, lock the doors and drive safely!success to those who are still writing exams!
Summer greetings from Cranleymore
Ps Now a good 2 hours later, could not get the email to go! eventually phoned eircom and a young man on the otherside with great patience led me through the whole procedure and now it works !
