It is unbelievable but we are 1/2 way through April and we are still freezing - the weather is just not adhering to the seasons !!!!


It is so very cold today ...the sun tried to shine bravely at intervals but the clouds are so thick , rolling masses,dark blue nearly navy in places and is rolling in relentlessly!!!
Last year the swallows arrived on this day but there is no sign of them and we read in the news that thousands of them died as they were gathering for their exodis out of Africa because of another cold spell that hit them!!!

We are now 18 months in winter conditions...somewhat long,,I would say

With the USA and the monitory position they are in, the whole world is affected and it has hit us as well.

Monies that were promised especially in the health sector have been withdrawn and the NTPF has dried up, that is the government fund used to get rid of the back log of surgical procedures in private hospitals and we feel the pinch.
The only work done now is private cases paid by medical insurance meaning that the hospital is far less busy than last year this time and the possibility of becoming a 5-day hospital is not excluded. Night duty will also be affected and I am now looking at alternative work field should there be no work left...by enquering about homebased training and to get another qualification on board as a back-up.

We have had several hail storms followed by sleet and heavy showers of rain today ...fortunately we did not get the window boxes in order as planned as the plants were not up to my standard when we got to the garden centre- otherwise they would have suffered badly. It was dry for a few days and we did cut the grass last week....and it does make a big difference.

The tulips are lovely , the daffodils are now finished and the azaleas are starting to bloom,,we planted a row of peas, beans,carrots,onions and spinach..waiting for tomatoe plants the others were put straight into the ground but the tomatoe plants are very fragile and needs better weather !

Barry started with the old lounge ...the one that is going to be our 2nd bedroom... the cupboard that was in there is out and installed in the kitchen and it is great ,,,I have now plenty of packing space..... a proper wardrobe will be built in the same place and it looks as if we made the right decision..it will be a lovely bedroom! he stripped the wall paper today ..what a massive task but it is done and now the rest can follow! At least he is working inside and not outside!!!

We had hoped to paint the house outside during April but that has now fallen by the wayside!

Joy , I sincerely hope that your knee is on the mend...your knees are very important parts of your mobility in life..ask me I know... the arthritis in my left knee is starting to cause problems and a visit to the orthopod will be on the cards in the near future...I had to stop walking on my treadmill as it just gives way without warning and I can fall while doing 3.5 miles per hour and I do not need an accident -safe rather than sorry I say!!!

Ek het nie verlede week geskryf nie en nou is die geluk wensinge vir Nine-Paula laat...nietemin hoop ons dat dit 'n lieflike dag vir haar was!
Verjaardag wense dan aan Gerda wat 10 de verjaar het...effe laat maar nie vergete nie!!!

Baie dankie aan almal wat sulke lekker lees briewe geskryf het..ons hoop ook dat Nine se stuitjie weer mooi aangroei .. dat Haya met die korrekte behandeling gou beter sal voel en is baie dankbaar dat die nuus nie onruswekkend was nie!!!
Gerlof wat gras wewenaar is...hoop ook dat jou been eersdaags nie meer seer sal wees nie...en dat Sandra haar besoek aan SA geniet !
Danke Arnolda vir die foto album..en Paul uit Dar E S wat breedvoering en baie interesant geskryf het oor die finansies en projekte waarmee hy besig is!!!!
Gerda wat gereeld heerlike reis verhale skryf --ek dink ons moet al die briewe bymekaar sit in 'n boek vorm...wat dink julle???
Nou ja die wat op die plaas by Hessie kuier...ek is daar saam met julle..Hessie die nuwe lewenstyl wat jy volg van vlakvark na wat ook al het alles te doen met wat ons in ons monde sit en hoeveel daarvan.... ek weet!!!!
